What is EMAS

A certification of environmental performance, recognised widely by Governments and buyers across the EU and elsewhere; useful to exporters and those seeking a competitive edge in Environmental management.

What is EMAS Easy?

Version of EMAS tailored to suit SME's. EMAS Easy reduces the cost of implementation by clustering up to 10 companies. Authentic works with these companies to help them complete & implement EMAS using as few as 10 sheets of paper in less than 10 working days, over 3 – 6 months.

How does EMAS help?

The European Commission’s Eco Management & Audit Scheme is the council regulation No 761/2001/EC. EMAS Easy requires that an organisation: 
                    Is compliant with all national & EU environmental regulations
                    Demonstrates continuous improvement of environmental performance indicators each year
                    Involves its employees in environmental issues
                    Issues a verified public environmental statement

What is involved?

The company or site implements the EMAS standard in its operations, the work is carried out by the staff on-site, who are trained advised and mentored by Authentic:  Usually this is in clusters to make the process time and cost effective for the companies and sites involved.
                   EcoMapping – Business mapped using simple easy-to-learn techniques
                   Environmental impacts identified 
                   Covers Energy, Waste, Water & Transport
                   Consists of an Environmental Audit (see energy audit)
                   Register for EMAS certification with NSAI and/or INAB

Who can avail of EMAS certification?

EMAS is available for any size company.  EMASeasy is specifically aimed at SME’s seeking to apply for Green Public Procurement contracts, export to countries using EMAS (e.g. Germany) or tender for EU business or related sectors.  EMAS is considered to be a superset of ISO14001 and can build on top of this standard, in some countries EMAS is sold as ‘ISo14001easy’.
